Why Going To Class Is Important

Going to a class is an important part of your fitness regime.  I know we all say we could exercise at home.  Exercising at home can be an excellent way of keeping fit it can be a great time saver because we don't need to travel anywhere and let's face it we normally just have to move into the next room - how easy is that?

But, I have many clients in my Pilates exercise classes that have been with me for many years in some cases over five years.  Now do you think these people could do their Pilates at home?  Of course they could some of them have been coming on so long and are so experienced they could actually teach the class themselves.  So why do they keep coming why don't they save the five pounds a week it costs them to come to class?

The reason is simple. yes, they could quite easily to their Pilates at home but the problem is without the discipline of coming to class each week they just wouldn't do it.  Many have tried in the past because they are short of time to continue their Pilates workouts when they stopt coming to class.  To date and I've been teaching for four years now I've never met anyone who's had the discipline to continue their training at home once they leave the class situation.

In theory it should be simple for them to include Pilates or any other type of exercise into their normal daily activities but sadly the reality is that unless they're forced to do the exercises by coming to structured class they don't.

Now obviously I don't mind.  If that's what it takes to ensure my clients get and continue to receive the benefits that Pilates can bring who am I to complain :)
